November
Did you know there are people going hungry right in the Jupiter community? Did you know that there is a great way to help solve that problem right inside Jonathan’s Landing? Each year JL Cares hosts the annual Meals of Hope food packaging event. Over 100 of our volunteers sign up to pack 10,000 FORTIFIED BEANS AND RICE CASSEROLE meals which includes rice, pre-cooked dried beans, soy protein, 6 dried vegetables, and 21 vitamins and minerals. All this amazing effort will take place in less than 3 hours!
Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches - December
JL volunteers help paint and beautify the exterior of a home of an elderly Jupiter resident. You will be amazed how a home can be transformed in 4 to 5 hours by our JL Cares volunteers!
Angel Tree Project and Reception - December
The Angel Tree Project provides gifts for the children at Edna Runner Tutorial Center. Participants pick Angel name tags from the Angel tree and purchase the actual gifts. Starting mid November, the Angel trees will go up in the JL Clubhouse and donation boxes will be located throughout the Clubhouse, Golf Shop and POA office. Please get your gifts and make donations early. The Angel Tree Reception is held in the Dickinson Room in the JL Clubhouse.
Shoe Clear Out - May
Look into your closet and notice all the shoes you have not been wearing! JL Cares has a charity that needs your gently used or new shoes that are just wasting space in your closet.
In Jacob’s Shoes provides footwear to impoverished residents in tri-county South Florida; about 50% in Palm Beach County. Started in 2009 as a charity in memory of the passing of a family's child, it has expanded from providing sport shoes for youngsters to all kinds of shoes for men, women, and children.
We collect new and gently used shoes at the JL Clubhouse and then take them to the In Jacob's Shoes Center. All kinds of footwear are needed: Athletic shoes, dress shoes, casual shoes and sandals. (No golf shoes, though)
Your shoes don't want to be forgotten in the closet and left to just sit there! Please donate them on the scheduled drop-off date!
Calling all Snowbirds! As some of you approach the time to clean out your pantry and kitchen cupboards to get ready to head north, don’t let those nonperishable food items go to waste. In early May, you can bring them over to the JL Clubhouse. JL Cares has an SUV at the Valet stand where you can donate your items. We will then deliver everything to the Palm Beach Harvest food bank.
We hope you will participate, but please note that this is a one day only event. Drop-offs at the Clubhouse prior to scheduled drop off date will NOT be accepted. If you are leaving before the collection date, please give your donations to a neighbor or friend to be delivered on the drop off date. If you want to take your items to a nearby donation site yourself, head on over to El Sol, 106 Military Trail, Jupiter 33458 between 11:00am-1:00pm Monday through Friday. It is only 2 miles away!
